About the Guard

In August 2012, Cathy Barnes-Miller created the Miamisburg Adaptive Color Guard for special needs students: the first of it's kind in Ohio.  She hoped to help students with developmental disabilities participate as respected members of society as well as increase the public's awareness of these students and their capabilities and needs.  The program was designed for students in elementary, junior high, and high school.  The enthusiasm for this program has been tremendous.

The ACG has now opened their doors to include neighboring schools and is now the Miami Valley Adaptive Color Guard   Since the MVACG is now comprised of students from multiple school districts and adults, we can no longer acquire funding or organizational support from the Miamisburg Color Guard.  The parents, directors, and assistants are working together with the donated resources of attorney Mike Ledbetter to create our a non-profit organization to support this color guard for the 2013-14 season and beyond.

One goal of the Miami Valley Adaptive Color Guard organization is to gather funding through donations to eliminate the burden to these performer's families from the time required for traditional fundraising activities or expensive 'pay-to-play' fees.  If you or your company would like to sponsor the guard for the 2013-2014 season, please Contact Us.  We ask everyone reading this to review our list of Sponsors and patronize the generous businesses and personally thank them for supporting the MVACG  .

During the fall season, the Miami Valley Adaptive Color Guard will perform at local football games, however it is the winter season where these performers really shine.  Please visit the Video page to see them in action, and look for us this fall and winter!
